Spondylolisthesis
Spondylolisthesis
What Causes Spondylolisthesis?
It is usually said that wear and tear of discs are common reasons, but if you find the signs in children, it is likely due to a congenital disability. Some of the most common causes of spondylolisthesis are –
- If the bones are not formed correctly during fetal development, then this condition can affect since birth
- Trauma, injury, accident
- Vertebrae dries out and becomes thin with age
- Any other surgical complication leading to vertebrae slip
How is Spondylolisthesis Diagnosed?
Healthcare providers consult the patient based on medical history, family history, dietary habits, occupational history, and any signs or symptoms. Then, perform physical examinations and diagnostic tests to determine the patient’s condition. During the physical examination, the patient may have to move around to find out the source, and if difficulty arises, there is an issue. Diagnostic tests like X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs can help to determine the source of pain and other symptoms. These imaging tests indicate any cracks, fractures, or vertebrae slips, which are the signs of spondylolisthesis.
